January transfer hint
Manchester United coach Mike Phelan’s comments about a superstar signing will no doubt intrigue fans.
The Red Devils had a solid, but unspectacular, summer when they sealed transfers for Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.
But Phelan has today insisted that United remain keen on the big names that football has to offer.
“I think there has got to be a blend,” Phelan told the Evening Standard when grilled on the club’s transfer policy. “I think Manchester United still do want superstars, but I think they still want to see them coming through and progressing and being part of something special.”
Jadon Sancho to Chelsea
Chelsea are confident of winning the battle to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
That’s according to Goal, who claim Frank Lampard’s side are prepared to shatter their transfer record to secure his services either in January or next summer.
Chelsea’s current transfer record stands at £72million paid for goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao.
But Goal claim Chelsea executives will green-light a bid that could potentially dwarf the £89m Barcelona paid Dortmund for Ousmane Dembele in 2017.
Sancho, 19, is reported to be unhappy at the Westfalenstadion with Liverpool, Barcelona and Manchester United also competing for his signature.
Wilfried Zaha bid
Chelsea are looking to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
The Ivory Coast international was expected to leave for Arsenal or Everton during the summer transfer window – but neither would meet his £70million valuation.
Now, The Telegraph claim Frank Lampard’s side are looking to bring him to Stamford Bridge next summer.
The Blues are currently under a two-window transfer ban after Fifa found them guilty of breaking transfer regulations – but Chelsea are hopeful their recent appeal with be successful.
