Neymar swap deal?
PSG want Real Madrid star Luka Modric as part of any Neymar transfer deal amid Florentino Perez’s desire to beat Barcelona to the player.
Neymar wants to leave the club this summer, with Real Madrid and Barcelona both determined to snap him up.
The Brazil international has grown tired of life at the Parc des Princes and believes the standard of football in Ligue 1 to be too low for a player of his ability.
Real Madrid have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Neymar this summer, and Catalan newspaper Sport say that Los Blancos star Modric is wanted by PSG as part of a deal.
However, Modric would prefer to say at the Bernabeu rather than move to the Parc des Princes.
Neymar’s future will decided in the next few days, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona are the only two candidates looking to sign the Brazilian superstar, who will miss PSG’s Ligue 1 opener against Nimes on Sunday.
But Real Madrid hold an important advantage and that’s because PSG have rejected all of Barcelona’s proposals – preferring to sell to Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Sport claim PSG have a “pre-agreement” with Real Madrid but Neymar is still determined to re-join the Nou Camp side.
Real Madrid have offered £113million in cash plus midfielder Luka Modric and PSG are happy with the proposal which would allow them to sign top target Paulo Dybala.
Sport finish the article by adding that a decision will be made in the next “few days” and Neymar will join one of the two sides.
Philippe Coutinho deadline day
Tottenham withdrew their interest in Philippe Coutinho on transfer deadline day after discovering the loan fee Barcelona demanded.
Tottenham wanted to sign an attacking midfielder with Christian Eriksen’s future in doubt and had discussions with Barcelona about Coutinho.
But the Catalan club wanted a £30million loan fee for the 2019/20 season which scared off Tottenham, according to The Mirror.
Factoring in Coutinho’s £240,000-a-week wage, the overall deal would have set Spurs back almost £40m.
Neymar talks advanced
Neymar transfer talks are “more advanced than before”, according to Paris St Germain sporting director Leonardo.
The Brazil star is said to be unsettled in France and has been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer.
“Talks are more advanced than before,” Leonardo was quoted as saying by French newspaper L’Equipe.
Leonardo refused to specify about the progress of the negotiations.
But he said his fellow Brazilian would not be involved in PSG’s opening Ligue 1 match at home to Nimes on Sunday.
